Give your old bike a new lease of life with the Cycle to Work Scheme

Across the UK, there are thousands of bikes lying neglected and unused.  Some will have stopped working properly due to wear and tear on key components with owners unable to afford to buy a replacement.  However, what many owners don’t realise is that for relatively small cost and a little TLC, their bike can once again become part of their active travel journey.

The good news is that it’s not just bikes that you can get through the Cycle to Work Scheme; you can also get parts and accessories and save 28-47% on them!  Parts can include tyres, wheels, brakes, chains, derailleurs, etc., whilst accessories such as lights, locks, bells and panniers are allowed, along with reflective clothing and racks.  However, GPS devices, power meters and bike computers are not permitted on the scheme.   Take a look at the Cycle to Work Guidance Notes (Annex A) for more information.

By using the scheme, minor issues can become cost effective to repair and you can spread the cost over 3 – 60 months to give manageable monthly payments that you’ll hardly notice.  And by choosing to spruce up your current bike there’ll be environmental benefits as you’ll be reducing your carbon footprint by repairing and reusing your bike, rather than sending it to the rubbish tip.

Save on parts and accessories when buying them through GCI's Cycle to work scheme.

Make your application in the usual way Instant application or Corporate application, and just leave the bike field blank if you’re getting parts and accessories only.
